If you delay dialing to review the number you are calling or enter a wrong number by mistake, you may notice the phone either showing an error or trying to dial before you are ready. This happens when you pick up the handset to dial. If you dial the number before picking up the handset, it will give you all the time you need. When you are dialing, you will notice 2 dots above the button on the right. Push that button and you will see a "Backspace" option. This will allow you to change any numbers you have entered by mistake. When you are ready to dial, you can push the Dial button under this option or push the Speaker button. Once you hear it ringing, then pick up the handset.
